Council Bluffs, Iowa – September 16, 2015 – Tyson Fresh Meats, Inc. announced today that its case ready beef and pork plant in Council Bluffs will hire about 60 additional workers and add new lines for the production of pork chops and roasts. Tyson Fresh Meats is the beef and pork subsidiary of Tyson Foods, Inc. (NYSE: TSN).

Hiring will begin immediately for general maintenance and labor, material handling, and refrigeration, as well as various support positions in quality assurance.
The Council Bluffs plant produces packaged beef and pork cuts, including closely-trimmed steaks, chops, roasts and spareribs for sale to retail customers throughout the region and nationally.
Tyson Foods acquired the Council Bluffs plant in 2001. The facility currently employs about 1,100 people, generating an annual payroll of more than $36.8 million.
The case ready plant is one of two company plants in Council Bluffs. A prepared foods plant produces dry sausage and pepperoni and employs 130 people. The company also operates a bacon plant in nearby Omaha, Neb., that employs 880 people. The three plants generate an annual payroll of $75.2 million.
